Founder of Proudmans, Dr Charlotte Proudman and other campaigners were successful in their campaign to end the presumption of parental involvement in family law. On 22 October 2025, the government confirmed that it will repeal the presumption of parental involvement (s.1(2A) Children Act 1989), the law that forced unsafe contact between children and abusive parents.

In May this year, Charlotte published her book He Said She Said: Truth, Trauma and the Struggle for Justice in Family Court, detailing many cases where mothers and children have been failed because of this dangerous presumption.

This is more than legal reform. We believe it will save lives. Children’s safety must always come first.
