We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a trainee solicitor to join our specialist family law practice under the leadership of highly acclaimed barrister, Dr Charlotte Proudman at Proudmans. This role is offered as a training contract from the outset, providing a pathway into qualification within a firm dedicated to family law with a focus on domestic abuse.
The Role
This training contract is suited to an individual with a genuine passion for family law and a strong commitment to supporting often vulnerable clients. You will work closely with solicitors and counsel across a broad range of complex and sensitive matters, gaining hands-on experience from an early stage. The structure of the programme over two years ensures that you are immersed in client work quickly, with meaningful responsibility and exposure.
Mandatory Requirements
AT LEAST TWO YEARS EXPERIENCE AS A FAMILY LAW PARALEGAL IN PRIVATE LAW CHILDREN MATTERS WORKING DIRECTLY WITH PRIVATE CLIENTS. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THIS EXPERIENCE.
Successfully completed the LPC or SQE 1 and SQE 2
Proficiency in legal case management systems
Strong experience drafting client care letters, correspondence, invoices, court applications, and briefing counsel.
Familiarity with locating court listings via CourtServe and preparing court bundles.
Experience liaising directly with clients, the Court, the counsel, and assisting with case management
Experience in time recording and billing/invoicing.
Experience drafting witness statements and/or Scott Schedules.
Ability to take detailed attendance notes.
Must be based in/ around London and able to travel for court hearings when required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional attention to detail, organisation, and time-management skills.
Commitment to excellent client care and a clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
Ability to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines.
A genuine commitment to trauma-informed practice.
Live locally to our office in NW1 (i.e. in London)
Desirable Experience
Experience using the CLIO case management system and exposure to financial remedy proceedings would be advantageous.

Training Contract Structure
This is a two-year training contract, structured to provide broad exposure across family law. You will work across private children and financial remedy matters, developing both litigation and advocacy skills under close supervision.
Accepted Routes
For our training contracts, we are currently accepting applicants who have completed their LPC or SQE.
Recruitment Process
The recruitment process involves two interview stages and a written assessment focused on research and drafting skills. Interviews will include a discussion of your assessment, experience, and interests in the role and the firm.
Location
In-person office attendance. 5 days per week, Monday – Friday at our London office.
Salary
Competitive and dependent on experience.
